Do you wish there was a way to discover whether or not your idea will sell before investing a significant amount of time and money into it?

You can easily test a new product or service by developing a survey and putting it out to the people in your target market who have been profiled as prospects.

You should produce at least 3-5 questions in your survey but not so many questions that you overwhelm the recipient.

The questions should be positioned so they can help you determine the need for the product/service to your ideal client, what that client will pay, and what features and benefits are a priority to them plus order of priority.

When you end the survey, make sure the final question is very specific. It should ask the survey taker whether or not they would actually purchase your product and service for the price they identify it is worth.

Once you gather your answers you will have a good idea as to what the best price point should be in order to enter the market.

Do the math, and if there is an acceptable level of profit for the risk you are taking, then move ahead with development.

What survey software should you use?

If you’re looking for an easy product to run your surveys on that are free, we have 2 survey software recommendations to choose from.

1. Survey Monkey – easily allows you to create surveys, quizzes, and polls for every audience. Survey Monkey allows you to gather feedback through weblink, mobile chat, email, social media, and more.

2. Typeform – this cloud-based survey software is a great solution for companies big and small. It offers survey design, configuration, and analytics. Typeform features customizable survey designs through it’s drag-and-drop interface.

The above survey software recommendations are commonly used but if you’re in need of something more robust, Classapps might be a better fit. It’s not free but to offset the cost, monthly basis plans are available.

Bringing a new product to market or introducing a new service doesn’t need to feel like a “roll of the dice” experience.

By surveying your clients and customers in advance, you will be able to predict with a high degree of accuracy the success potential of your idea.
